Curated Content from 25 Years of Writing

Let me first tell you who I'm not:

If you've arrived at this site looking for the Tom Coyne who went to Notre Dame and writes about golf and Ireland, you can find him at
tomcoyne.com. If you're looking for the Tom Coyne who once was a chemist at Clorox but now runs a winery in Livermore and makes first class Rhone varietals, you can find him at thomascoynewinery.com. And if you're looking for the Tom Coyne who grew up in the Depression, fought in Europe in World War II, went to college on the GI Bill, and was truly one of Tom Brokaw's Greatest Generation, I'm afraid you're too late -- he's already passed on to what he always called "his next great adventure." But I can assure you he was a great man and father, and that you would have enjoyed his company.

On the other hand, if you're looking for the Tom Coyne who, over the past twenty-five years, has worked as a banker, consultant, CFO, CEO, and analyst/writer, then you've come to the right place. In my spare time, I’ve also started public policy research organizations, written for investment publications, coached sports teams, and invested over a decade of volunteer time in the cause of improving the performance of our public schools. In the course of all of this, I've also done a lot of research, and written a lot of papers and articles. But I've never become an expert about golf in Ireland, or owned a winery. Unfortunately...

Still, in this age of ubiquitous connectivity and deep search, I've decided to take some measure of control over the indexing of my writing. On this site I’ve collected some of my best work, and organized it into four broad themes:

I hope you find the materials collected here thought provoking and useful reads.

You can also connect to the sites of the organizations in which I invest my time these days:
